Using the TCN standard Excel template

When you open Excel in Citrix you will find that it opens with a standard TCN template, you will see the main and sub bar at the top of the document.
This template is setup to use for all your TCN and Project documents.

You can change the paper size as follows:

  • Select the Page Layout tab.

  • Click on the Size command in the Page Setup group.

  • Choose the desired paper size.

You can change the paper orientation as follows:

Theme Colors

The standard template colors are set for corporate blue; you can change this to match your project colors as follows:

  • Select the Page Layout tab and click on Colors in the Themes group.

  • Select the required theme color from the Custom list.

Note:  Use TCN gray for internal documents.

All color pallets now have the theme color of your project. Also all styles have the correct color, more on this later.

The color pallets have 10 theme colors, in order form left to right these are:

1. White Standard.
2. Black Standard.
3. Main bar Black for corporate and colored for projects.
4. Sub bar Blue or gray for corporate and black for projects.
5. Main color Use this color for objects or text that you want to have your project color.
  Note:
Do not use the main bar or sub bar colors, these will switch from color to black or vice versa when you switch form a corporate theme to a project theme or vice versa.
6. 40% of Main bar Black for corporate and colored for projects.
7. 40% of Sub bar Blue or gray for corporate and black for projects.
8. Red Standard.
9. Yellow Standard.
10. Green Standard.

Tip: You can switch theme colors at any time, all objects or texts will change to the new theme color.

Stamp

A black stamp is placed in the header by default, the stamp will not change color when you select a different theme color.

You can change the stamp to a different color by replacing it with a different colored stamp:

  • On the Page Layout tab click on the Dialog Box Launcher in the Page Setup group.

  • Select the Header/Footer tab and click on the Custom Header button.

  • Place the cursor in the Right section area and click on the Insert Picture button.

  • Browse to the following folder:
    I:\TCN Toolbox\TCN Organization\Communications (Martine)\TCN Branding\TCN Stamp for internal use

  • Select the desired stamp form the TCN Stamp office or the TCN Stamp rotated office folder (the default stamp is a rotated stamp)

  • Click on OK twice to close the dialog windows.

Styles

The standard template has a set of cell styles that you can use, such as headers including the main and sub bars.

Adjusting the bars
As you can see, the main and sub bars are each two rows high. Together they use three rows. The first row is 71 pixels, the second 9 pixels and the third 19 pixels high. They overlap on the second row.

The main bar has the cell style Title and the sub bar the cell style Sub title. You can select these styles from the Cell Styles list in the Styles group on the Home tab of the ribbon.
The Title style you can find in the Titles and Headings section, the Sub title in the Custom section.

Main bar
Aays enter the title in the right most cell of the main bar, and leave the cells to the left empty.

Sub bar
The sub bar consists of four merged cells (2 columns x 2 rows).
When you want to increase or decrease the number of columns you have to unmerge these cells first and then merge the new sub bar to the desired number of columns:

  • Select the Home tab.

  • Click on the Merge & Center command in the Alignment group.

  • Select the desired cells for the new sub bar, make sure the selection includes the cells on the second and third row.

  • Click on the Merge & Center command in the Alignment group.

  • Delete any leftover Sub tile formatting by selecting the Title style for cells on the second row and the Normal style for cells on the third row. Or just copy the adjacent cells.

Other styles
In the Custom section of the Cell Styles list you will find other styles as well, these styles you can use for creating an Excel form.

A form template is available in the Templates:

  • Click on the Office button .
  • Select New > My templates.
  • Select the Form template.

You will find that this sheet has already a basic form setup.
When creating your form; keep in mind that the columns and rows between the data labels and fields should be 11 pixels.

Entering content

When entering content to your Excel sheet it is recommended to leave the first column empty.
The left page margin is set to 1cm and the first column is set to 0,5cm.
This is done so the main bar is further to the left than the content.

Also; when you punch holes in your printed document, to file it, the holes will penetrate part of the first column, any content at that point will not be readable.
